Students who are currently studying or matriculants who intend studying towards a Chartered Accountant (SA) qualification. Under-graduates currently studying in a CA stream towards a BComm Accounting, BAcc, Business Science, CTA, HNS or equivalent. If you are in matric then you will only be considered for bursaries if they achieve at least a "C" symbol for maths on Higher Grade in your June exams. Bursaries will be awarded to persons who the firm believes have the commitment to qualify as a chartered Accountant (SA), have an academic record which indicated the ability to do so and with due regard to financial need.

The CAA provides an avenue for prospective Chartered Accountants to receive training without going through an audit firm. This type of training has been a feature in the private sector for some time, but has been adopted by the public sector. National Treasury was the first national government department to introduce such a programme. This programme will not only reinforce your academic education, but will also help develop business acumen, professional and ethical values. The programme will contribute significantly to the National Treasury’s ability to attract and retain key finance and accounting professionals within the department and the broader public sector as a whole. A maximum of 10 graduates a year get selected into the programme. The CA Training (CAT) Programme in Transnet is a strategic intervention to train prospective Chartered Accountants to meet the skills requirements of South Africa in the Accountancy field. The CAT Programme at Transnet is a three year learnership programme for candidates who have a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) / B Compt Hons or equivalent. Trainees receive extensive training in Financial Management, Management Decision-Making, Financial Accounting, Internal Audit & Corporate Governance, Auditing & Assurance and Taxation. This also includes the professional skills like interpersonal & communication skills, intellectual skills, personal skills, and organizational & management skills. In Transnet, the trainees will be rotated to the head office and several of its business units, e.g. Transnet National Ports Authority, Transnet Pipelines, Transnet Freight Rail, etc. The rotation will be tailored to meet the needs of the trainee and the respective business unit, with the trainee spending at least one-third of the practical training in one business. The training programme matches the depth of the SAICA syllabus requirements with a wide business exposure.
